The project explores the trajectory of the automobile during the 20th century and how it affected urban design in New York.

Conversations around safety, mobility and public space are explored at various stages in the adoption of the vehicle, from its initial inception to its complete saturation within the urban fabric of the city.

Case studies in and around New York City are used to address contencious social, environmental and economic repurcusions of the vehicle. They also describe potential future scenarios with a more sustainable and effective urban design.
